Transition to Family Care: An Immersive Simulation Experience

Hosted by the CAFO Center on Applied Research for Vulnerable Children & Families

Scripture and science are clear: children need families to thrive.

We are seeing a global movement of programs transitioning their services from residential care to family-based solutions. Thousands of children have been moved from residential to family care. As a result, thousands more individuals, communities, and churches have been impacted as programs engage with entire families rather than individual children.

But for those engaged in providing residential care, transitioning to family-based care can seem like an enormous undertaking.

Where do we start? How do we develop a plan? What needs to be on the plan? How much will this all cost? How do we engage government leaders in the process?

Don’t face these questions alone.

Join us to experience what it’s like to transition to family-based care.

The Transition to Family Care Simulation Experience (also known as Sim-Lab) allows residential care providers to experience the process of transitioning to family care in an innovative way. By utilizing a fictional case study, attendees walk through the process of considering these big questions and become equipped with tools and resources that can be used to create a plan of transition for their own program.
