Research Symposium: Connecting Research and Practice

Hosted by the CAFO Center on Applied Research for Vulnerable Children & Families

Innovate Local: Bridging Research and Customized Solutions

Developing excellent care for children requires both an awareness of the best available knowledge and an understanding of the local context. It demands the knowledge and understanding of the ideal along with the resourcefulness and innovation of the real. That bridge between the ideals of research and the reality of practice is where this event will live, focused on customizing effective, local solutions on a firm foundation of global research in child welfare.

Join us for this one-of-a-kind research symposium, uniting researchers, practitioners, and child welfare professionals to catalyze the innovation and customization of care solutions for orphaned and vulnerable children worldwide.

Returning for its 11th consecutive year, this event will bring together academic researchers and faith-based NGOs serving vulnerable children and families around the world. Researchers will share insights on evidence-based interventions while leaders on the frontlines will discuss customized strategies tailored to local contexts. Interactive activities will generate insights not only from presenters but from attendees, as well. Finally, all participants will receive tools for developing their own homemade, evidence-informed
solutions.

This event will be held 8:30am – 2:30pm before the opening session of CAFO2024.
